August/September 2022 at Lockskinners

We are very proud to have great springy grass coverage on both our Cross Country Courses and Combination Training Field, after a very hot and dry July. We are hopeful for some cooler riding weather along with some rain this month. The team at Lockskinners are looking forward to welcoming you in August as we are hosting a range of different events to suit all abilities. Keep up to date on our Events page for all our up and coming training days and competitions.

Our fun day and mini XC Clear Round on the 20th of August is aimed at lead rein riders or those just confident enough to go round by themselves. We are holding a dog show and horse show! The Obstacle Pen is a 40x50m enclosed pen with fences up to 40cm, perfect for gaining confidence cross country without being in a big open space.

On the 3rd September we have our Hunter Trial on North course where we have 60cm, 80cm and 90cm classes. After our hugely popular one in May, we will run the Hunter Trial with a timed section which will be the only part of the course which counts towards your final result. We have done this to help build confidence and we hope this relaxes each competitor to get into a flow with their horse before the fences that count.

Our final event on 27th August is another of our much enjoyed Explore Days. This is where we open both North and South Cross Country courses, linked by wooded hacking paths, giving a perfect opportunity for those who would like to progress from our smaller North course but are not sure of the type of fences found on South XC. This is a great event for those wanting to spend hours on the course taking it slow and exploring all our 300 plus cross country fences.
